The Police just finished a recent blitz to catch speeders on the mean streets of Edmonton.   In a 24 hour period this week they issued 1,493 speeding tickets.  They say we are not obeying the posted limits.  Um...lets see...80% of Edmonton seems to be under construction so you just can't depend on the usual posted limits anymore.  So are we speeding more?  Or maybe, just maybe the Police are watching for speeding more.  I don't adjust my driving on a day to day basis.  I'm nick-named "Driving Miss Daisy" because I am so slow.  But even though I drive slow the long arm of the special constables got me the other day.   I received a photo radar ticket on the Yellowhead.  I remember it like it just happened.  I sped up to make sure there wasn't an accident from a group of cars merging from the on ramp.  I kept the traffic flow on the go and I received a ticket.  Why do they set up the traps where there is a better chance of making money.  I remember the Mayor saying that he didn't want radar vans set up near hills because that was unfair.  So I ask, when was the last time you drove the Whitemud and didn't see a radar van at the bottom of Rainbow Valley?
