6 HOT WEATHER BEAUTY HORRORS (AND HOW TO AVOID THEM!)

Summer is newly underway, but summer beauty screw-ups are already happening everywhere you look. If you want to make sure you stay cool and gorgeous and avoid the worst hot-weather beauty snafus, listen up for some tips from Cosmo.com:

Summer Snafu 1: You wore sunglasses and ended up with a reverse-raccoon tan!

Stop it before it starts: Slather an SPF 30 sunscreen on your entire face to greatly reduce the amount of sun you get. No sunscreen can block out 100% of the sun's rays, but using a broad spectrum UVA/UVB formula every 2 hours will help.

Fix it: Using a foundation shade that matches your tan, dab a couple of dots under your eyes and blend. Also, go for nude or light brown eye shadow to balance things out.

Summer Snafu 2: After some time in the sun, your sheer nail polish has turned an ugly yellowish color.

Stop it before it starts: Light pink and beige shades turn yellowish when exposed to the sun. So, use a clear top coat designed to prevent UV rays from altering your polish color. Also, rub sunscreen over your nails whenever you apply it to your body.

Fix it: Try removing the top layer and gently buffing away the yellow. Seal with top coat.

Summer Snafu 3: A night out in your new sandals has left you limping from blisters.

Stop it before it starts: Reduce the shoe-on-skin rubbing that creates a blister by sprinkling your feet with foot powder to keep them from sweating. If you begin to feel the rub, protect the sensitive spot with a bandage.

Fix it: Sanitize the blister with alcohol, then pop it to let the fluid out. Don't peel off the skin. If it's already torn open, apply an antibiotic ointment and put on a bandage.

Summer Snafu 4: You open your lipstick and find a melted mess.

Stop it before it starts: If you're heading out with a cooler for your soda, toss your lipstick in. Or bring a tube with a wand instead of a bullet of lipstick. This way, if the color melts, it will cool into the same shape.

Fix it: If your lipstick is soft but not yet dribbling, put it in the fridge or near an A/C. If it's really liquidy, scoop the lipstick into a small empty plastic pot.

Summer Snafu 5: The humidity has frizzed out your curly hair to epic proportions.

Stop it before it starts: The drier hair is, the more it'll frizz in humid weather, so keep your locks hydrated. After washing, use a leave-in conditioner, then let it air-dry.

Fix it: If humidity has already struck, wet your hands and run them over your hair to put moisture back. Use wax or texturizer to add control, then twist curls around your finger.

Summer Snafu 6: You shaved your bikini line and now you have a bumpy razor rash.

Stop it before it starts: Always use a fresh razor blade on your sensitive bikini line. Use a gel and let it sit on the skin for a few minutes to soften the hair before you shave. Always shave the bikini line in the direction of hair growth to minimize irritation.

Fix it: Reduce the rash by applying a 1% hydrocortisone cream. Conceal redness with a tinted facial moisturizer.
