My Life in Pictures
Photographer Jamie Livingston chronicled his life via Polaroid photos, taking a shot every day for 18 years starting in 1978. He kept the photos organized by date and categorized them in boxes, taking a new photo every day until his untimely death of cancer in 1997. The photos chronicle his life and what was happening around him including pictures of friends, strangers, buildings, occasions and various images of daily life. Also documented are pictures of the staples and bandages of where doctors cut out cancer, the loss of his hair due to chemotherapy, and his ultimate bedridden death in the hospital. When put together as a set by friends Hugh Crawford and Betsy Reird in 2007, the exhibit took up 120 feet of wall space at 8 feet high.
