This group, led by two brothers, was basically the result of a merging of a sonic experiment. Both Gabe Cipes and Ezra Cipes of Vancouver were showcasing their talents, each fronting their own group, to manager Peter Karroll in Vancouver. After seeing both perform, Karroll thought it would be interesting to meld both singers and sounds into one group. In December 2001, the brothers combined their names to Gabezra And...the Way Out. The band was signed to Bif Naked's label Her Royal Majesty's Records. Gabezra And...the Way Out's sound has been defined as a cross between Radiohead, Leonard Cohen, and The Beatles circa Revolver. In 2002, the band released its self-titled debut album and toured throughout Canada. ~ Jason MacNeil, All Music Guide
