The jam band Hacha originally formed in the summer of 1997 in Connecticut, and consists of members Harold Papineau (guitar), Chris Bell (vocals, harmonica), Mike Murphy (bass), and Charles Etienne (drums). First called Hidden Moon, the band came together while all four were attending college, and by January of 1998, the group had changed their name to Hacha and began laying down tracks for their debut album, Meet the Tinker. The newly formed quartet toured throughout the summer of the same year, and, in 1999, issued a self-titled follow up recording. Hacha has opened up for bands (or members of) the Black Crowes, the Allman Brothers, Government Mule, the Jerry Garcia Band, Roberta Flack, and Seth Yacovone, among others. In January of 2001, the quartet relocated to California, in hopes of hitting the big time. ~ Greg Prato, All Music Guide
