M. Nasir

Born July 4, 1957 in Singapore, Mohammed Nasir was a multi-talented and multi-faceted performer in the Malaysian entertainment world. His skills were discovered while fronting a local band in 1978, and by the following year, Nasir landed a record deal -- with Polygram Singapore -- and released his debut album, Untuk Pencinta Seni. Over the next 30 years, Nasir -- who also proved himself an adept songwriter and actor -- released and appeared on more than 15 albums -- including 2006's Sang Pencinta, in a number of films, and won a plethora of industry awards. Easily one of his country's most popular stars, Nasir made more recent waves as a star of the reality talent show Akademi Fantasia. ~ Chris True, All Music Guide
