I'm a Rocket Man

When the Space Race was on back in the late 60's and early 70's many musicians were inspired to write songs with their own take on the Out of this world experience.  David Bowie's "Space Oddity" and Elton John's "Rocket Man" were probably the two biggest.  With news that Elton is coming back to Edmonton Sept 13th I had to take a look at the lyrics...afterall the tour is going to be called  "The Rocket Man: number one hits".

"I'm not the man they think I am at home...oh no , no, no  I'm a Rocket man.  Rocket man burning out his fuse up here alone".  Okay...kind of wierd but still a classic with lyrics by Bernie Taupin.  Its from one of my favorite Elton John albums..."Honkey Chateau".

Rainmaker Rodeo, Devon Days....here we go.  Its the summer and its the festival/party season.  Is your summer calendar filling up yet?  Pencil in a couple of vacations, Bar B. Q. with friends/family. Music festival, Taste of Edmonton, Grand Prix Race....work on the yard/garden.  Trip to Jasper...and that should pretty much take us to September!  So many fun things to do in the warmer months which are so brief.  My family is using this weekend for our first ever Garage Sale!   Out of space in the garage sale is what it should be called.  The Culling of the extra stuff.    Weather looks a little iffy but we'll hope for the best .  Have you ever found a real treasure at a garage sale?  Or do you have advice?  Let me know--Please!   smichaels@radio.astral.com
