Interesting thoughts from listeners on what not to wear in the summer time and surprisingly they were mostly about men! Who'd have thought? Shauna brought in her Dad's old Fish Net Tank Top. Yup he still has two in his drawer . Of course I couldn't resist trying it out and once guys see this look they should be made very clear that this look just doesn't work on a midle age body. Really the whole look on anybody should be done!
I promise never to do this again---unless its a costume party. It was a very freeing feeling for 5 minutes.
I've been noticing a lot of women wearing a new style of shirt lately and I think they look great.
It's like a golf shirt...nice stylish and summery fabric, v-neck with buttons and a collar. But no sleeves!
For golfing or outdoor activities what a comfortable way to go. Would it be appropriate for a man to wear a shirt like this? Most golf courses have a dress code in effect and would not allow a man wearing a sleeveless shirt to go on the course. Also no torn or ripped clothes and no cutoffs either. I was wondering about this and decided to adapt my golf shirt while Shauna did the video filming. Tell me what you think. Is it an okay look or just too redneck?
Shauna is filling and covering for both of my gal pals . Cheryl Brooks has one more week of vacation while Seanna just begins two weeks. Hope they have an excellent break! When you get up at 3 am vacations are cherished and getting real sleep is a joy!
Also wanted to share the link from Coldplay who put on a fantastic show last week at Rexall. Apparently they had a shuttle van driving them around that had a very typical Edmonton problem--rock chips on the windshield. I've learned to live with them as long as they're not right in your line of vision.

Can anybody give me logical explanation for the huge increase in Windy days? I've heard that some people go a little crazy if they are exposed to too much wind in places like Lethbridge. I never understood till this year. We have a lot of trees in our yard and right now the Poplars are blooming. All I see flying around is the white fuzz. Drive by a construction site with windows opena dn your likely to geta mouthfull of grit . Try playing golf these days--or frisbee, blowing bubbles is out and flying kites is best left to the extremely heavy people. If your driving into that wind your gas mileage is going way down...but a tail wind is strong enough that you can turn the motor off and coast. Long haired women have much to curse about on windy days---so do men with severe comb overs. There really is nothing like the site of a stand up comb over. Reminds me off opening a can of soup , leaving just enough of the lid attached to pry it up without detaching.
Wow....what a ton of comments and email in response to comments made by Alberta Finance minister Iris Evans...former minister of Childrens Services.
Minister Evans was at a lunch in Toronto weds when she told the audience that families need to ensure one parent stays at home to raise the kids. And when there isn't a stay at home parent it leads to mental health issues and criminal activity.
Okay Minister Evans has been around many broken and troubled families but this "Blanket " statment seemed a bit much for many listeners. Most thought that yes it would be great if it were possible to always havea parent at home...but come on. Not having a parent at home is not a direct path to disaster....many kids (myself and Seanna included) did not have a parent at home after school and did fine. Here's a great email from listener Don that presented a balanced perspective...
Nice to hear from kids--young and old--who were happy to brag up their Dad's prior to athers day on Sunday. Sometimes Dad's get a little overlooked but there's no denying they are a huge impact on our lives so it was great to hear the stories and get great emails like this one:
HI
I was listening this morning, as I usually do, and felt that I had to brag
about my Dad.
He is a retired RCMP officer which meant as a kid me and my sisters moved
all over Alberta, NWT(including what is now Nunavut). He and my Mom
always made the move an adventure. Living on an island in the high arctic
could break many "southerners", but my Dad took full advantage and we
"Lets go White water Rafting", my wife Trina said to me. This surprised and delighted me at the same time. Trina isn't usually the high adventure type so I was caught off guard but it's great being surprised by somebody you've been married to for more than a dozen years.
Our weekend trip to Jasper had already been action packed but since the boys all agreed we set up a trip with one of the many Jasper rafting companies...Raven Adventures. And they were fantastic! Super friendly and fun. Highly trained and accomodating to all levels of thrill seekers. All the gear is provided and custom fit...even my eight year old son Nicholas had a perfectly fitting wet suit, splash jacket and life jacket.
Time to start thinking about a summer get away...no need to go any further than Jasper National Park. Travellors from all over the world visit Jasper --one of the greatest natural area's on the planet. And yet it's just down the road for us. My family and I made the trek out this past weekend and boy did we have a great time--even the weather cooperated. Although not overly hot it was sunny and beautiful. Some fresh snow on the peak only added to the beauty. So this week I will share some stories of what we did and show you some great photo's. On friday night we went up to pyramid lake stables to check out the horses and enjoy a bonfire. They also had a horse drawn wagon ride complete with cozy blankets. There's many low cost or free activities there and a super friendly staff. They were just getting the remainder of their herd...did you know the majority winter in Leduc? The have trusty trailriders all the way up to the big Belgians and something for all ages.
